Advanced motion tracking Android Wear app for CES Las Vegas.
Using a adapted version of the Invensense Motion Processing library was demoed at CES 2015 to show how using just a wearable device the user could extract feature-mode detection of standing, walking or running along with step and stride length detection to calculate a user’s pace and distance.
Built on at the time the newly released Android Wear SDK, this project had to be built in Android Studio with Gradle. Although then the support was quite limited and the build system very slow the transition away from Eclipse was a welcome one. I also learned a lot about the limitations and user expectations of using a wearable device. Which are suprisingly different than a phone handset.
